Michael Emley
Michael Emley is a seasoned professional with more than 30 years of experience in creating spaces that promote productivity and performance, while balancing the principles of proximity and privacy within the context of organizational culture and mission. In addition to planning and space design, Michael has extensive experience in managing and executing construction and facility development projects for corporate, nonprofit, community and individual entities. He has served as an advisor and trusted partner in small and midsize projects, as well as larger ventures ($5 million+) and has worked on historic preservation and public urban development projects, as well as projects that demand complying with rigorous regulatory standards (e.g., health, medical and education projects).
His areas of expertise include design consultation and space planning; site selection and lease negotiations; cost estimates and budget projections; all elements of project planning and management, including aligning architectural and design options with construction standards, scheduling, contractor management and oversight and cost containment; interior design; integrating related facility needs (e.g., technology, security); and managing all aspects of site relocation and transitions. Michael has owned design, construction and restoration businesses in Wisconsin and Boston, Massachusetts and has served as Director of Facilities and Property Manager for a large, multi-site nonprofit organization of over 200,000 square feet. Michael received a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has been an active member of the community, involved with neighborhood health centers, the American Civil Liberties Union, as well as community based organizations supporting the needs of the gay and lesbian community and people with HIV/AIDS. |
